However, changing the display brightness can be done at the shell, and the changes take effect immediately.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>find a path like <strong>&#8220;\/proc\/acpi\/video\/VGA\/LCD\/brightness&#8221; <\/strong>using <strong>ls<\/strong> and <strong>cd<\/strong> (the exact path varies)<\/li>\n<li><strong>cat<\/strong> <em>yourfile<\/em>. The top line contains possible values.
